  • The Living Charter Journey takes your team through the following across the themes of discovering purpose, culture, participation and process.

    • Facilitate listening interviews and an artifact collection survey.

    • Facilitate four live design sessions during which a series of reflections and exercises guide the team in locating and aligning with the emergent vision, purpose and structure of the enterprise.

    • Weave together the discoveries to create the living artifacts with common language and understanding.

  • Those who go on the Living Charter Journey do so to find answers to the following questions in a thoughtful way:

    • Who are we?

    • What unites us to come together?

    • What is our guiding north star?

    • How will we organize for this purpose?

    • How do we make decisions?

    • Who are we in relationship with to fulfill this purpose?

    • How will we be together?

    • What are the resources and needs that we have?

  • The Living Charter Journey is specifically designed to facilitate an intimate team, anywhere from 2 to 6 people, through the process. For teams larger than 6, a more customized and involved approach is recommended.

  • The Charter is structured to serve as the organization’s living constitution. Because of the intention through which it is developed, the Charter can accelerate and anchor the development of other organizational documents. Examples include governing bylaws, an investment thesis, standard operating procedures.

  • The whole journey spans about 12 weeks, from discovery through delivery of the final artifacts. Cadence and rhythm throughout those weeks is determined by the team’s capacity to fully engage.

    We recommend beginning the journey when the participants can be fully engaged at every stage.
